2nd Thame Summer Sheep Fair

Friday 4th September, County’s Out in the Field team set off to the 2nd Thame Summer Sheep Fair. It proved a successful day and with the overall entry of 7549 store sheep and 180 rams, but depending on quality of stock vendors were met with mixed fortunes. It was pleasing to see the fair attracted sheep from far away Norfolk, Devon and Wales.

All things considered the day was a great success and as usual County’s team laid out a superb spread of cakes, savouries and home-baked ham rolls to keep everyone well stocked for the day’s events.

John Rixon of J Rixon Ltd, Long Crendon judged the Sponsored best pen of Ewe Labs category with Graham Humphrey of Humphrey’s livestock taking this prize for the second year running. John also awarded Richard Hayne, of Buckingham the best run of 100 Store. County Insurance once again sponsored these classes and the photos below show Chris and Tim with John Rixon and the respective winners.

The Sheep themed Brain Teaser was a “Guess Where Competition” – The flags of 16 countries with the top sheep populations in the world were shown and you had to guess which country they related to. Not an easy task!

The top three entries went into a hat and the lucky winner of a digital radio was Nick Boyles, N J Boyles of Worminghall.

Prize draw for the meat hamper went to John Rixon from Long Crendon.

This was another fantastic event and we are looking forward to seeing you all again shortly.
