Importance of Safety and Health Awareness for Farming and Agricultural Businesses’
Farming and agriculture are still among the most dangerous industries to work in, yet many of the fatalities and serious injuries that occur each year could be avoided. County Insurance Services Limited regularly attend farm-related events to gain a thorough understanding of the industry and how best to minimise risk, this, in turn ensures we understand the clients needs and can offer the right product.
The most recent workshop, 28 January run by the Health and Safety Executive was held in the rural innovation centre, near Cirencester. Lisa Mosson & Tim Sydenham attended the safety and health awareness day (SHAD).
The vast majority of attendees were farm owners, managers and employees. Lisa and Tim found this to be a valuable day gaining knowledge on the day-to-day risks that farmers face.
The course comprised of six, 25-minute workshops covering general farm safety, machinery safety, machinery maintenance, all-terrain vehicles, telescopic handlers, working at height and cattle handling.
The day gave a good insight into farming life and explained many of the on-going issues the farming community contend with. The information gained will help to build up a picture to ensure County Insurance Services Limited provide the right type of cover for farming clients.
